Marauders

  • Marauders is a first person, space themed, multiplayer, extraction style looter shooter
  • This is space Tarkov-lite
  • The added space combat system is neat and adds a good relief when you need a brake from normal gunplay
  • Its possible to get loot just by flying around in space grabbing salvage, never needing to enter the major loot and combat zones
  • Loot is very easy to come by, the highest tier of loot is very rare, but the second to highest tier is much more common
  • There’s a good variety of weapons, armor, bags, grenades, spaceships, enemies, and bosses. No complaints
  • The game is in early access but feels decently complete, the real game is about the gunplay but the maps and other content is decent
  • You level up, use skill points to unlock crafting recipes
  • The main missions “zero to hero” unlock exclusive crafting recipes and good stuff like big containers you only can get through the questline
  • Good map design concept. There is a good flow with players starting on one side of the map, with the high loot areas on the other side
  • The game hits a sweet spot of complexity and how “fast” the gameplay is. Maps aren’t too big or small, and the map design helps too
  • The time you spend waiting to get placed into a match is very minimal which is huge, it keeps the action going and the adrenal-fun pumping
  • Progression through random mission for vendor reputation, experience to level, and objectives for the main story quests is slow but very rewarding
  • There’s a prestige system for those who play a lot and want to continue progressing but its not required. There isn’t a huge incentive to prestige either
  • The space pirate-y theme works. Breaching ships is really cool, you can steal the ship, sell them for money, use them as storage, or use them for combat
  • Its oddly satisfying using very old WW2 guns in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future with space ships
  • The bad parts of the game are bugs and low overall player count, there is a few corners if you jump in you’re stuck and can’t get out
  • The friend, invite, and party system isn’t the best but it works
  • You can’t differentiate sounds above or below you meaning, it all sounds like its to your left or right if they are a floor above or below
  • Hackers are always a problem in this style of game but since the game is less hardcore its not a big problem, and the community isn’t very toxic
  • I told a new player I was helping out that “I really like this game” he said he was bad at Tarkov too. So if you’re like us, you should try this game
